The Popular Show Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
