Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has won 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, took control to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
